There's something truly magical about a fresh batch of homemade playdough. The floury smell. The warm squishy texture. And the best part of all, making it with your child is an activity in itself! We love this recipe because it's super simple and you don't have to cook the playdough on the stove (so there are fewer pans to scrub). Here's how to do it:
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of table salt
2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
1 tablespoon of cooking oil
1 cup of boiling water
Liquid food coloring
Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl, and form a well in the center.
Add the cooking oil and food coloring to the dry ingredients.
Add boiling water and stir to form the playdough.
Knead the playdough until it's soft and smooth- Caution! It will be hot!
Once the playdough has cooled, store it in an airtight container or zipper storage bag at room temperature. This playdough lasts about 6 months.
