Practical Life: Vacuum

A Montessori inspired resource to encourage practical life skills.

Children are drawn to tasks that seem like chores to us- vacuuming, sweeping, pouring, and wiping are tasks even a young toddler can do.

These are called practical life activities. According to Heidi Philipart of the Montessori Guide,

"Practical life activities help give the child a sense of being and belonging. Through practical life the child learns about his culture and all about what it is to be human."

The Montessori philosophy believes in providing children with real tools for an authentic learning experience. This working, lightweight vacuum is easily modified to fit a toddler or preschooler.

Children love taking part in the work of the home, which I personally love because we have two bulldogs and the dog hair is endless.
